Streetcar Named Desire is a play by Tennessee Williams that I decided to read on my own individual time. This play has so many themes that it can be hard to connect it to just one story sometimes. In order to really get it to click in your brain you have to look at the deeper meaning and see what the book is really trying to say. Today I will be connecting this play to the book Oedipus by Sophocles that we read as a group in class. In Oedipus he left his “biological” family in Corinth to move to a new country that he became the king of called Thebes. When he got to Thebes he ended up creating more drama for himself when he ended up killing his biological father. Overall he ends up running away from his family. Although Blanche's story is not exactly like that it is pretty similar. Blanche leaves her home in Belle Reve after her family ends up all passing away (1.1.26).
